Dave Alvin è un chitarrista, cantante e compositore statunitense, nato a Los Angeles nel 1953. Noto per il suo stile country rock influenzato dal roots music, ha raggiunto la fama come chitarrista dei The Blasters negli anni '80. Dopo aver lasciato il gruppo, ha avviato una carriera solista di successo, pubblicando album apprezzati dalla critica e collaborando con artisti come X, Jimmie Dale Gilmore e John Doe. Alvin è considerato uno degli esponenti più importanti del movimento Americana e del rock roots contemporaneo. Tra i suoi brani più rappresentativi figurano "Fourth of July", "Marie Laveau" e "King of the Highway".
