La New Power Generation (NPG) fu la band di supporto del musicista statunitense Prince dal 1990 al 2013. Fondata da Prince stesso, il gruppo debuttò ufficialmente nell'album *Diamonds and Pearls* del 1991. Il nome deriva da una canzone dell'album *Graffiti Bridge* (1990), ma era già presente nella frase "Welcome to the new power generation" presente nel brano omonimo di *Lovesexy* (1988). La NPG si caratterizzò per un sound funk e soul contemporaneo, con influenze jazz e R and B. Tra i membri più noti figurano Sheila E., Morris Day, e Wendy and Lisa. La band ha accompagnato Prince in numerosi tour mondiali e ha collaborato alla realizzazione di molti album di successo, tra cui *Love Symbol Album* (1992), *The Gold Experience* (1995) e *Chaos and Disorder* (1996). Alcuni brani rappresentativi includono "Diamonds and Pearls", "Gett Off" e "Cream".
