Pete Seeger (1919-2014) è stato un cantautore, musicista e attivista americano di fama mondiale. Nato a New York da una famiglia di artisti, Seeger si distinse per la sua voce potente e il suo impegno sociale. Iniziò la sua carriera negli anni '30 con gruppi folk come The Almanac Singers, promuovendo temi di giustizia sociale e lotta contro le ingiustizie. Durante gli anni '50, Seeger divenne un simbolo della musica folk americana, influenzando generazioni di artisti con il suo stile diretto e coinvolgente. La sua canzone più famosa, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?", è diventata un inno per la pace e contro la guerra. Vediamo anche come ha contribuito alla nascita del movimento ambientalista negli anni '60 con brani come "If I Had a Hammer". Seeger fu spesso oggetto di critiche politiche durante la Guerra Fredda, ma rimase un'icona della musica folk americana fino alla sua morte nel 2014. Tra i suoi album più importanti ricordiamo "American Industrial Ballads" (1956) e "Rainbow Race" (1963).
