Defiance è una band thrash metal proveniente da Oakland, California. Sebbene virtualmente sconosciuta ai circuiti mainstream di metal e rock, Defiance è considerata una delle classiche band thrash di secondo livello provenienti dalla scena thrash metal della Bay Area. Hanno suonato uno stile tecnico di thrash che evocava inizialmente band come Testament, anche se in seguito si sono mossi verso un proprio stile thrash più progressivo. Si sono riformati nel 2005 e stanno attualmente lavorando a un album.
