Broken Social Scene è un gruppo musicale canadese formatosi a Toronto nel 2001 da Kevin Drew e Brendan Canning, due musicisti provenienti da band poco conosciute. Il loro primo album, *Feel Good Lost*, pubblicato nel 2001, era principalmente strumentale. Il successo arrivò con il secondo album, *You Forgot It In People* (2002), che raccolse un'enorme attenzione mediatica e recensioni entusiastiche. L'album si distinse per la sua capacità di combinare musica indie-rock innovativa con melodie pop accattivanti, conquistando sia i fan del genere musicale che il pubblico più ampio. *You Forgot It In People* è considerato uno dei migliori album indie-rock degli anni 2000.
