Ry Cooder (nato Ryland Peter Cooder il 15 marzo 1947) è un chitarrista e compositore statunitense considerato uno dei più influenti musicisti del XX secolo. Cooder ha esplorato una vasta gamma di generi musicali, dal blues al country, dalla musica folk alla world music. Noto per la sua tecnica virtuosistica sulla chitarra slide e il suo approccio sperimentale all'improvvisazione, Cooder ha collaborato con artisti di fama mondiale come Captain Beefheart, Joni Mitchell, The Rolling Stones e Buena Vista Social Club. Tra i suoi album più importanti figurano "Paradise and Lunch" (1978), "Jazz" (1983) e "Chicken Skin Music" (2006). Alcuni dei brani più rappresentativi di Cooder includono "The Slide Guitar Blues", "You Never Can Tell" e "Down in the Delta".
