Free è un gruppo rock britannico attivo tra la fine degli anni '60 e il 1973. Noto per il suo sound blues-rock potente e influenzato dal hard rock, ha raggiunto l'apice del successo con il singolo "All Right Now", estratto dall'album *Fire and Water* (1970). Il brano è diventato un classico intramontabile del genere rock, ancora oggi eseguito in concerti e trasmessi dalle radio. Il gruppo era composto da Paul Rodgers (voce), Andy Fraser (basso), Simon Kirke (batteria) e Paul Kossoff (chitarra). Kossoff, considerato uno dei chitarristi più talentuosi della sua generazione, è purtroppo scomparso prematuramente nel 1976 a causa di un'overdose. Oltre a "All Right Now", altri brani rappresentativi di Free includono "Wishing Well", "The Hunter" e "I'll Be Creepin'". *Fire and Water* rimane il loro album più famoso, ma anche *Tons of Sobs* (1970) e *Highway* (1971) hanno riscosso un buon successo.
