The Magnetic Fields sono un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi a New York negli anni '90. Il gruppo è guidato dal cantautore Stephin Merritt, che scrive quasi tutti i brani e interpreta la maggior parte delle musiche. La formazione include Claudia Gonson, Sam Davol e John Woo. Merritt è noto per il suo stile musicale eclettico, che spazia dal pop al folk, dall'indie rock alla musica classica. The Magnetic Fields sono famosi per l'album "69 Love Songs", un progetto monumentale composto da 69 canzoni d'amore di diverse tematiche e stili musicali.
