Future Islands sono un gruppo musicale synth-pop originario di Baltimore, nel Maryland. La formazione attuale comprende Gerrit Welmers (tastiere, sintetizzatori), William Cashion (basso) e Samuel T. Herring (voce). La band ha raggiunto la notorietà internazionale negli anni 2010 grazie al loro sound distintivo che fonde synthwave, post-punk e melodie pop orecchiabili. Il carisma scenico di Herring, con le sue performance intense ed emozionali, è un elemento chiave del successo dei Future Islands. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Seasons (Waiting on You)", "A Song for Our Youth" e "The Chase".
