Pain of Salvation è una band progressive metal svedese formatasi a Stoccolma nel 1997. Il gruppo è guidato da Daniel Gildenlöw, che si occupa di testi, composizione principale, chitarra e voce solista. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da un potente lavoro chitarristico, un'ampia gamma vocale, un brusco passaggio tra passaggi pesanti e calmi, intense sincope e sperimentazioni poliritmiche. Un altro marchio distintivo della band è che ogni album è un concept album. Tra i temi affrontati nei loro album figurano la sessualità, la guerra e il suo impatto sulla famiglia e l'umanità, le questioni ambientali (come l'energia nucleare), la formazione dell'individuo e la natura di Dio, l'umanità e l'esistenza. Tra i loro album più importanti ricordiamo *Remedy Lane* (2007) e *BE*. (2012). Alcuni dei brani rappresentativi includono 'Linoleum', 'The Road Less Travelled' e 'Enigmatic'.
