Parliament è stato un gruppo musicale statunitense attivo tra gli anni '70 e '80, considerato uno dei gruppi più innovativi del funk e un'importante fonte di ispirazione per l'hip hop. Considerati insieme ai Funkadelic la principale formazione P-Funk, il loro sound era una miscela di influenze provenienti da James Brown, Sly Stone, Tamla Motown, MC5 e Stooges. Il gruppo, guidato dal visionario George Clinton, ha prodotto un catalogo ricco di album iconici come 'Mothership Connection' (1975), 'Chocolate City' (1976) e 'Up For The Down Stroke' (1978). I brani più rappresentativi includono 'Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)', 'Flash Light', 'Aqua Boogie' e 'Super Freak'. Parliament ha lasciato un'impronta indelebile sulla musica, influenzando generazioni di artisti e contribuendo a definire l'evoluzione del funk.
