My sugar likes to take a drink
To help her sleep and make her dream
Shes on to something but now they think
Theres not enough blood in her alcohol screen
When things get on top of her
There aint no stoppin her
My sugar turns to alcohol
One trip to the watering hole
My sugar turns to alcohol
One more drip will take its toll
Now when it gets into her head
There aint nothin I can do
Her days are numbered the doctor said
Now shes drinking and counting too
When time is running out
Now there can be no doubt
My sugar turns to alcohol
One trip to the watering hole
My sugar turns to alcohol
One more drip will take its toll
Eight bars Im getting old
Now, in the morning her heads so thick
Theres only one thing that she can do
One drink and shes a brand new girl
Then that brand new girl wants one too
When things get on top of her
There aint no stoppin her
When time is running out
Now there can be no doubt
My sugar turns to alcohol
One trip to the watering hole
My sugar turns to alcohol
One more drip will take its toll
My sugar turns to alcohol
One trip to the watering hole
My sugar turns to alcohol
One more drip will take its toll
Yeah I warned you about that stuff baby
That aint gin youre drinkin
Thats pure petroleum
Ha ha ha ha yeah....
Dr. Feelgood are a British pub rock band, which formed in mid 1971. The name of the band is slang for heroin, or for doctors who are prepared to overprescribe drugs. In 1962 the name was adopted by the American blues pianist and singer Willie Perryman (also known as "Piano Red") who recorded his song "Dr Feel-Good" as "Dr Feelgood & The Interns". The song was covered by several British beat groups including Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, who used it as the b-side to one of their singles and it is from there, allegedly, that it was picked up by the band.
