Jim Croce (James Joseph Croce) è stato un cantautore statunitense nato a Philadelphia il 10 gennaio 1943 e morto tragicamente in un incidente aereo il 20 settembre 1973 all'età di soli 30 anni. Croce ha raggiunto la fama negli anni '70 con il suo stile folk rock caratterizzato da testi realistici e melodie orecchiabili. I suoi brani, spesso ispirati alla vita quotidiana e alle esperienze personali, hanno conquistato un pubblico vasto e appassionato. Tra i suoi successi più famosi figurano "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown", "Time in a Bottle" e "Operator (That's Not the Way It Is)".
