Nato Philip David Ochs a El Paso, Texas, ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '50, influenzato da artisti come Woody Guthrie e Pete Seeger. Ochs si distinse per il suo impegno civile e la sua capacità di trasformare eventi politici in testi incisivi e musicalmente coinvolgenti.
