Now I get a little older everday seems like I'm working my life away
But I got a couple of dollars and a couple of friends
I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in
It seems like life is a mighty tough road
But I got a good woman helps me tote the load
And though she kinda nags me ever now and then
I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in
[ guitar ]
Now the crops ain't growin' like they ought to be they ain't had good rain since '53
We're skinny but we're healthy so we won't complain
We're in pretty good shape for the shape we're in
Pretty good shape for the shape we're in
Got an old watch dog we call Misery he takes the strangers and he barks at me
Every puppy in the county's his next of kin
He's in pretty good shape for the shape he's in
Pretty good shape for the shape he's in
[ piano - steel ]
Got a still up there by the cementary the corn's a little stronger than it ought to be
If you sip that stuff and you're still on your fence
You're in pretty good shape for the shape you're in
Pretty good shape for the shape you're in
Sometimes I think that the government is doing lots of things without my consent
But there's chickens in the yard and hogs in the pen
We're in pretty good shape for the shape we're in
Pretty good shape for the shape we's in
