Pain of Salvation è una band progressive metal svedese formatasi a Stoccolma nel 1997. Il gruppo è guidato da Daniel Gildenlöw, che si occupa di testi, composizione principale, chitarra e voce solista. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da un potente lavoro chitarristico, un'ampia gamma vocale, un brusco passaggio tra passaggi pesanti e calmi, intense sincope e sperimentazioni poliritmiche. Un altro marchio distintivo della band è che ogni album è un concept album.
