Zion I è un duo hip hop proveniente da Oakland, California. Il gruppo è composto dall'MC Zumbi e dal beatmaker e DJ AmpLive. Attivi dal 1997, i Zion I sono noti per il loro stile underground caratterizzato da una fusione di campioni musicali e strumenti tradizionali, unite a testi poetici e socialmente consapevoli. Il loro debutto avvenne nel 1997 con un EP su cassetta intitolato "Enter the Woods". Nel 2000 pubblicarono il loro primo album per l'etichetta indipendente Ground Control Records, "Mind Over Matter", che segnò l'inizio di una carriera ricca di successi. Tra i loro album più importanti ricordiamo "Heroes in the City of Dope", realizzato in collaborazione con The Grouch.
