Jimmy Cliff, pseudonimo di James Chambers (1948), è un leggendario cantante e musicista giamaicano considerato uno dei pionieri del reggae internazionale. Nato a Saint Catherine Parish, in Giamaica, Cliff ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '60 con il gruppo The Wailing Wailers, collaborando con Bob Marley prima della sua ascesa al successo solista. ?? Il suo stile musicale è caratterizzato da un mix di reggae, ska e rocksteady, spesso accompagnato da testi che affrontano temi sociali e politici. Cliff ha raggiunto la fama mondiale nel 1972 con il film "The Harder They Come", in cui interpretava il protagonista e cantava la colonna sonora, tra cui l'indimenticabile brano "Many Rivers to Cross". ?? Questo successo lo ha consacrato come icona del reggae e ha contribuito a diffondere questo genere musicale in tutto il mondo. Tra i suoi brani più famosi ricordiamo anche "Wonderful World, Beautiful People", "You Can Get It If You Really Want" e "Vietnam". Cliff continua ad essere attivo nel panorama musicale internazionale, partecipando a festival e tour mondiali.
