Frank Black è lo pseudonimo di Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV, nato il 6 aprile 1965. Noto per essere stato il frontman dei Pixies, ha intrapreso una carriera solista dopo la dissoluzione del gruppo nel 1993. Inizialmente ha pubblicato due album con l'etichetta 4AD, poi ha formato Frank Black and the Catholics, un nuovo progetto musicale con una band di supporto. Nel 2004 si è riunito ai Pixies, continuando contemporaneamente a registrare e esibirsi come artista solista. Nel 2007 ha ripreso ad utilizzare il nome d'arte Frank Black. Il suo genere musicale spazia dal rock alternativo al post-punk, con influenze psichedeliche e noise.
