Hugh Alan Cornwell (nato il 28 aprile 1949) è un cantautore e chitarrista britannico, noto soprattutto per essere stato il frontman e chitarrista principale dei The Stranglers dal 1974 al 1990. Cornwell ha contribuito a definire l'immagine musicale del gruppo con la sua voce roca e le sue melodie dark, influenzate da punk rock, new wave e musica classica. Durante la sua permanenza negli Stranglers, ha scritto alcuni dei loro brani più iconici come "Always the Sun", "Golden Brown" e "No More Heroes". Dopo aver lasciato il gruppo nel 1990, Cornwell si è dedicato alla carriera solista, pubblicando oltre dieci album in studio. La sua musica da solista mantiene le caratteristiche distintive del suo stile: melodie accattivanti, testi introspettivi e un'atmosfera dark che lo hanno reso uno dei cantautori più apprezzati della scena britannica. Tra i suoi album solista più noti figurano "Hooverville" (1990) e "The Ballad of the Great Divide" (2006).

Il 28 aprile 1986 la cantante Graziella Franchini, in arte Lolita, veniva ritrovata esanime e sfigurata nella camera del residence di Lamezia Terme in cui viveva ormai da un pò di tempo. L'omicidio è rimasto privo di colpevoli.

E' prevista per la prossima estate l'uscita del docufilm "Iron Maiden's Lost Singer", che riguarda Paul Di'Anno, cantante degli Iron Maiden dal 1978 al 1981, che è venuto a mancare a fine 2024.
