I Minutemen sono una band punk americana formatasi a San Pedro, California, all'inizio del 1980. Considerati estremamente importanti e influenti nella formazione dell'alternative e dell'indie rock americano, hanno ridefinito il genere ignorando le convenzioni stilistiche preesistenti sul punk. Nonostante non abbiano mai ottenuto successo mainstream, il loro terzo album, *Double Nickels on the Dime*, è considerato uno dei più grandi di tutti i tempi ed è stato fondamentale nel declino del hardcore punk. I Minutemen sono stati citati come una grande influenza da artisti alt rock come Henry Rollins e Red Hot Chili Peppers, che hanno dedicato il loro album fondamentale *Blood Sugar Sex Magik* al bassista Mike Watt.
