Recoil è il progetto musicale di Alan Wilder, tastierista e compositore noto per la sua collaborazione con Depeche Mode dal 1982 al 1995. Dopo aver lasciato il gruppo, Wilder ha dato vita a Recoil nel 1986, esplorando sonorità elettroniche più sperimentali e introspettive rispetto all'impatto synth-pop di Depeche Mode. Recoil si caratterizza per un sound dark ambient, con influenze post-industriale e musica classica. Wilder ha collaborato con numerosi artisti, tra cui Gary Numan e The Cure.
