Edwin Starr, pseudonimo di Charles Edwin Hatcher (1940-2003), è stato un influente cantante e musicista soul americano. Nato a Nashville, Tennessee, Starr iniziò la sua carriera musicale negli anni '60 come membro del gruppo The Falcons. Nel 1965, firmò con la Ric-Tic Records e ottenne il suo primo successo con il brano "Agent Double O Soul". Nel 1970, raggiunse l'apice della popolarità con il singolo "War", un potente inno contro la guerra del Vietnam che divenne un classico mondiale. Starr ha continuato a registrare musica fino alla fine degli anni '80, collaborando con artisti come The Temptations e Marvin Gaye. La sua voce potente e le sue performance energiche lo hanno reso una figura iconica della scena soul americana.
