Meet Jessica Morgan, a second-generation singer-songwriter-producer who enters the contemporary music arena fully prepared to bring it ? and she does! Jessica composes and performs a diverse collection of tracks on her self-produced debut LP, Emerald City, that showcases her four-and-a-half-octave range and authentic musicianship. She transports listeners to the inner reaches of her creative soul through highly original, affecting songs that will resonate across the demos. From ?Who Framed Roger?,? a whimsical nod to the film classic, to ?At Your Window,? a techno-pop lover?s retort, to ?In Retrograde,? a haunting mid-tempo opus to cosmic chaos, to the jazzy ?Vaudeville? and folk-inspired ?Pearls,? Jessica delivers the goods with a rare display of artistic versatility. Her distinctive pop/rock style ? infused with dance, jazz, electro-pop and folk influences ? is expressed through songs that make you feel, reflect, smile or just move appreciatively to the beat. ?I have such eclectic tastes that I just decided to sit down and write, and this is where it brought me,? she says of the musical direction of the album. ?The music is slightly moody and a bit aggressive. It's definitely a reflection of my current state of mind and recent experiences in relationships,? she admits. But it?s all about honest self-expression. The title track, particularly, depicts Los Angeles through an autobiographical lens ? and the prism of her emerald birthstone ? as a city where so many dreams, like her own, can either live on or die. Jessica was, in fact, born in that ?Emerald City? to music industry parents. She was reared by her mother, an artist-composer-producer. While Jessica herself excelled academically, her creative muse led her to sing, write songs and poetry at 11. She directed her own play in elementary school and by the time she reached high school, she had made her mark in musical theater. Blessed with a willowy body and photogenic face, Jessica added modeling to her resume and moved closer toward a career in the entertainment industry. When her mother moved to Las Vegas, frequent commutes to Los Angeles allowed Jessica to study acting for several years in both cities with top-tier coaches, among them Aaron Speiser, who counts Will Smith as a client. But this talented multi-tasker did not lose sight of her educational goals and graduated from college summa cum laude with a BA in Marketing. After a post-collegiate stint as the creator/writer/editor of the political blog The J Notes and a year serving as a national political organizer in the Obama campaign, Jessica embarked on the life-altering journey that would bring her music to the world. And now, with an impressive debut of self-penned and self-produced album under her belt, she is well on the way to winning audiences across the genres as one of the most original voices to emerge in the music industry today. Jessica Morgan. Emerald City. Stay tuned?.
