Protest the Hero è una band canadese di progressive metal/mathcore proveniente da Whitby, Ontario. Formatisi nel 1999, i membri hanno mantenuto la stessa formazione sin dagli inizi. Il 23 gennaio 2006, la band ha firmato ufficialmente con Vagrant Records per il rilascio statunitense di *Kezia*, uscito negli Stati Uniti il 4 aprile 2006. Il loro secondo album in studio, *Fortress*, è stato ufficialmente pubblicato da Underground Operations in Canada e da Vagrant Records in tutto il mondo il 29 gennaio 2008.
