Burning Spear, vero nome Winston Rodney (1945), è un leggendario cantante e musicista reggae giamaicano. Nato a Saint Catherine, in Giamaica, ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '60, influenzato dal movimento rastafariano. Con il suo stile vocale potente e le sue liriche profonde, Burning Spear si è affermato come uno dei più grandi esponenti del reggae roots, un genere caratterizzato da testi politici e sociali. Tra i suoi brani più famosi figurano "Marcus Garvey", "Slavery Days" e "The Gathering of Tribes". Nel corso della sua lunga carriera ha collaborato con artisti di spicco come Peter Tosh e Lee Perry. Burning Spear è considerato uno dei pionieri del reggae moderno, la cui musica continua ad ispirare generazioni di musicisti e appassionati in tutto il mondo.
