Formata nel 2002 da Ryan Tedder e Zach Filkins, il gruppo ha raggiunto la fama su MySpace, diventando l'atto non firmato più popolare del sito web. Nel 2006 hanno firmato con Mosley Music Group e hanno pubblicato il loro album di debutto, *Dreaming Out Loud*, nel 2007.
