I Deftones sono un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi a Sacramento, California, nel 1988. Composti da Chino Moreno (voce), Stephen Carpenter (chitarra), Abe Cunningham (batteria) e Chi Cheng (basso, deceduto nel 2013), il gruppo ha raggiunto fama internazionale grazie al suo sound caratterizzato da un mix di metal alternativo, shoegaze e post-rock. Dopo anni di concerti locali e l'uscita del primo EP "The Deftones", hanno firmato con la Maverick Records nel 1995. Il loro album di debutto, "Adrenaline", ha riscosso successo immediato, consolidando il loro posto nell'underground musicale. Album successivi come "Around the Fur" (1997) e "White Pony" (2000) hanno ampliato la loro fanbase e li hanno consacrati come una delle band più influenti del genere alternative metal. I Deftones sono noti per le loro melodie intricate, i testi introspettivi di Moreno e l'atmosfera oscura e ipnotica dei loro concerti. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "My Own Summer (Shove It)", "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" e "Change (In the House of Flies)".
