Holocaust è una band di heavy metal progressivo con sede ad Edimburgo, Scozia. Fondata nel 1977 mentre ancora frequentavano il liceo, la formazione originale (con i chitarristi John Mortimer ed Ed Dudley, il vocalist Gary Lettice, il bassista Robin Begg e il batterista Paul Collins) fece parte del movimento New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Dopo numerosi cambi di formazione a causa di contrasti interni, John Mortimer è rimasto l'unico membro fondatore di Holocaust dal disco "No Man's Land". La band ha pubblicato diversi album negli anni '80, tra cui "The Night Before", "In the Shadow of the Cross" e "No Man's Land", che hanno contribuito a definire il suono del NWOBHM. Il loro stile musicale è caratterizzato da riff pesanti, melodie accattivanti e testi spesso oscuri e fantastici. Holocaust ha influenzato numerose band successive nel genere heavy metal progressivo.
