Il sound del gruppo è caratterizzato da melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e una forte influenza post-punk. Tra i loro album più noti figurano "One Heater" (1990) e "So, You Think It's Hot Here?" (1992). Il gruppo ha collaborato con artisti come Sonic Youth e The Jesus and Mary Chain.
