Riot è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi nel 1976. Considerati pionieri del progressive metal, hanno raggiunto la popolarità negli anni '80 con album come *Fire Down Under* (1981) e *Thundersteel* (1982). Il loro sound si caratterizza per riff heavy metal, melodie melodiche e un'influenza evidente dal rock progressivo. Rhett Forrester è uno dei membri fondatori e voce principale del gruppo. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Fire Down Under", "Swords and Tequila" e "Thundersteel". Dopo diversi cambi di formazione, Riot ha continuato a registrare album fino agli anni 2000.
