Woods of Ypres è una band canadese di black doom metal proveniente dall'Ontario. Fondata nel 2001 dal cantante e chitarrista David Gold, la band ha pubblicato sei album in studio, combinando influenze del black metal atmosferico con elementi di doom metal classico e post-rock. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da atmosfere cupe e malinconiche, testi introspettivi che esplorano temi come la morte, il dolore e la spiritualità, e un'esecuzione musicale potente e complessa. 2013 ha visto l'uscita di "Woods V: The Great Dismal", considerato uno dei loro lavori più maturi e influenti. Gold è anche noto per le sue performance teatrali e coinvolgenti durante i concerti. Nel 2017, Woods of Ypres si sono sciolti dopo la morte di David Gold.
