Metric è un gruppo musicale canadese di genere indie rock e new wave, formatosi a Toronto nel 1998. La band, composta da Emily Haines (voce, tastiere), James Shaw (chitarra, cori), Joshua Winstead (basso) e Joules (batteria), ha raggiunto una notevole popolarità internazionale grazie al suo sound energico e melodico, caratterizzato da riff di chitarra incisivi, linee melodiche accattivanti e testi introspettivi. Dopo aver pubblicato diversi album indipendenti, Metric ha firmato con la Last Gang Records nel 2003, ottenendo un successo crescente con l'album "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?" (2005). L'album successivo, "Fantasies" (2009), ha consolidato il loro status di band internazionale, raggiungendo la posizione numero 1 nelle classifiche alternative americane. Tra i brani più rappresentativi di Metric figurano "Help I'm Alive", "Black Sheep", "The Wanderlust" e "Gimme Sympathy". La band è nota per le sue performance dal vivo energiche e coinvolgenti, che hanno visto la partecipazione a festival musicali di fama mondiale come Coachella e Glastonbury.
