Angels and Airwaves è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi nel 2005 da Tom DeLonge, già frontman dei Blink-182. Il progetto nasce durante la pausa del gruppo pop-punk e vede DeLonge esplorare sonorità più epiche e sperimentali, influenzate dal rock progressivo e dalla musica elettronica. Il debutto arriva nel 2006 con l'album "We Don't Need to Whisper", che raggiunge un discreto successo commerciale pur ricevendo recensioni contrastanti. Il concept album "I-Empire" (2007) prosegue la storia di amore e guerra iniziata nel precedente disco, raggiungendo il top ten della Billboard americana. DeLonge ha sempre espresso l'intenzione di creare un universo narrativo attorno al gruppo, con film e fumetti che completano la visione musicale.
