Leslie Edward Claypool, noto come Les Claypool, è un bassista, cantante e compositore statunitense nato nel 1963. È famoso per essere il fondatore e leader del gruppo alternative metal Primus, con cui ha raggiunto fama internazionale negli anni '90. Claypool è considerato uno dei più grandi bassisti di tutti i tempi grazie alla sua tecnica virtuosistica e al suo stile originale, che fonde elementi di heavy metal, funk, flamenco e musica classica. Le sue influenze includono artisti come Geddy Lee dei Rush e Larry Graham. Oltre a Primus, Claypool ha collaborato con numerosi altri artisti, tra cui Sean Lennon e Tom Waits.
