The Academy Is... sono stati un gruppo alternative rock/emo-pop statunitense originario di Barrington, Illinois, un sobborgo di Chicago. Fondati nel 2003, la band ha inizialmente utilizzato il nome "The Academy", ma nel 2004 hanno aggiunto il suffisso "Is...". per evitare controversie legali con altri gruppi musicali che utilizzavano lo stesso nome. La formazione originale comprendeva William Beckett (voce), Andy Mrotek (chitarra), Adam Siska (basso) e Mike Carden (batteria). 2005 ha visto la pubblicazione del loro album di debutto, "Almost Here", seguito da "Santi" nel 2007. Il gruppo è noto per il suo sound energico e melodico, influenzato dall'emo rock e dal pop punk. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The Phrase That Pays", "Slow Down", e "Heartbeat". The Academy Is... hanno annunciato lo scioglimento nel 2011, ma si sono riuniti per esibirsi al Riot Fest di Chicago nel 2015.
