In a place where sometimes you can’t even interact with the people you know
Uno, dos, tres, cuatro
Let rock slow and see where we go
I get lost in my mind sometimes trying to figure out how we’re gonna find our way
Take me back to the time when people said:
“You’re never gonna shine uh ah no way”
“You’re not from the right country”
“You don’t have the right accent!”
“Skin and bone or your too fat”
“Don’t have the right skin tone”
“Who produced that?”
Apparently you gotta dumb down to appeal to the kiddies that’s condescending
To me to them but you see where I come from that stories never ending
Better chew fat like a cow trying to work out how your gonna make an entrance
But I wanna send message through the music hopefully you feel the vengeance
coupled with independence of knowing I can talk what I gotta when I gotta
No I’m not from the gutter but I’m from my mum’s yard if you disobey you will feel God
Thunder lightning strike that body like Kung fu fighting
Raised in a village called South London words travel by mouth
When a house is not a home you’re not alone
Aunties and uncles they gotta phone if they hear bad things you know they gotta moan but that’s my village
Keep you mind open
Keep your ears open
Keep your eyes open
Keep your mind open
Keep your ears open
Keep your eyes open
Keep your mind open
Keep your ears open
So keep your eyes open
I admit sometimes that I let the world crush me to a pulp as an adult
But I had to figure out for myself that it’s a cold day and it’s not my fault
My worth is not dictated by
Value set up by passers-by
Got to really swerve the grassy knoll
Snipers tune in to the hyperbole
In this steeplechase full of beats, bass and bad minds
I like to stroll
Humbled by the gift of mic control
My affect on a crowd is likeable
Being schooled by P.E taught me Don’t Believe The Hype so I’m not excitable
Ancestral connects I like to pull
Indeed the struggle is beautiful
Still I rise like the Phoenix
Maya Angelou in my double helix
Dna see a way
Succeed, visualise, activate, proceed and bounce
Gotta leave a dent in the granite
Got to leave a mark on the planet
Everything must change Randy Crawford said so
But they won’t understand it till the cow jumps over the moon
’Til the whole world bangs with a boom
Well you can sit and wait for the end with your friend
I’ll be over here setting new trends
Mind bending new agendas
We are the avengers to remember
Chakra remain open
Message received return to sender
Keep your mind open
Keep your ears open
Keep your eyes open
Keep your mind open
Keep your ears open
Keep your eyes open
Keep your mind open
Keep your ears
So keep your eyes open
OG Rootz (formerly Durrty Goodz)
They say Goodz what is it that’s holding you back
I say you can’t hold Usain Bolt on a track
They say yo what is it why we can’t see you
I said they can’t see me coz dem man are see through
Only the real recognise real people
An artist with a plain canvas see’s a brother like me and blanks us
Like they don’t understand what the man does
I move heads and shoulders like dandruff
Tight like handcuffs
When I write I set a light standards
Worldwide like satellite channels
Act like UK can’t handle
Any emcee to me is a candle
When I do me from a different angle,
Anything around me dismantles
While my pyramids build
Just to make it clear there’s no getting rid of this skill,
Why not try open up your pineal
For a pioneer yeah I am hear
You can feel it like a natural mystic blowing in the air
