The Playing Favorites sono una band americana formatasi nel 2007 a Los Angeles, California, grazie alla collaborazione tra il cantante e chitarrista Joey Cape (conosciuto per la sua attività con i Lagwagon) e il batterista Luke Tierney. Il loro stile musicale si colloca nell'ambito del punk rock melodico, caratterizzato da riff orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e un sound energico ma accessibile. La band ha pubblicato diversi album in studio, tra cui "The Playing Favorites" (2007), "The Best of The Playing Favorites" (2010) e "The Last Time I Saw You" (2013). Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "I'm Not Afraid", "The Way It Is" e "This Is My Life".
