cycling home from the station
after the heatwave and a week in the fast lane
the sun is down but the sky is soft and grey like a feather
taste the cool air as i cross the thames river
the water lies still and deep as a mirror
casting reflections and catching a momentary picture
it won't be long till i'm with ya
i feel you wheeling me hook, line, sinker
now the streetlights are flickering on
as i race them along to the home straight
lock up my bike to the side gate, wondering what mood you are in
you let me in and you lock us in
you bite my lip and you say nothing
as we start upon a silent rediscovery
and now your fingers adjust me
tune me into the same shared frequency
and i take hold of your shoulders
now there's nobody else and there's nothing else
and we don't know our cell because we just abandon ourselves
now our bodies are taking over
our minds are drugged by the racing blood
pumping in our ears and our eyes and our tethered souls
grown in the back of a fast car
speeding over a shifting sand bar
no way we can change our course
where this feeling will hurl me towards
and it's now! and it's now!
and it's now! and it's now! and it's now!
now you raise your pupils skyward
the sodium clouds move slow and silently
over the open skyline and into the twilight
and as our limbs begin untwining
the birds resume singing, the clock starts chiming
and gravity grabs hold and pulls me back to earth
oh, when i look at you next to me
with no fear and no insecurity
they disappeared with the certainty
that this feeling that courses through me
is love! this is love!
this is love! this is love! this is love! this is love!
this is love! this is love! this is love!
tune me, align yourself with me
take me in between the future and the past
tune me, align yourself with me
take me in between the future and the past
hold me, connect yourself with me
love me in between the future and the past
hold me, connect yourself with me
love me in between the future and the past
