Sananda Maitreya, all'anagrafe Terence Trent Howard, è un cantautore e polistrumentista statunitense nato nel 1962. Noto inizialmente come Terence Trent D'Arby, ha raggiunto la fama negli anni '80 con il suo stile musicale che fonde soul, funk, jazz e rock. Il suo album di debutto, "Introducing the Hardest Working Man in Show Business", pubblicato nel 1987, ottenne un grande successo internazionale grazie a brani come "Wishing Well" e "If You Let Me Stay Here". Dopo diversi album di successo, ha cambiato il nome in Sananda Maitreya nel 1994, segnando una svolta nella sua musica verso sonorità più spirituali e mistiche.
