Hozier è uno cantautoris irlandese nato a Bray, nella contea di Wicklow, nel 1990. Figlio di un musicista, ha iniziato a comporre canzoni fin da giovane. Dopo aver frequentato la St. Gerards School e il Trinity College di Dublino, dove si è iscritto al corso di musica, ha abbandonato gli studi per dedicarsi alla sua carriera musicale. Nel 2012 ha collaborato con il gruppo vocale Anúna, partecipando all'album "Illumination" con la canzone "La Chanson de Mardi Gras".
