It's the start of the show
I'm choosing my words carefully
Don't want there to be any misunderstandings
But I stand by the things I said
There will be no retraction
I'm not tryin' to go emo
Hurt people hurt people or something like that (Something like that)
Did I overstep the mark?
It was the wrong time for us, no hard feelings
You'll be the one that got away
You'll be the one that could have changed things
You recited your lines, but I'm left cold
I suspect we could be happier
It wasn't m?ant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't m?ant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
I'm choosing my words carefully
I'm sorry if you got the wrong impression
But there will be no apology
Let's settle up and keep this shit moving
There's a time to be humble
There's a time to be proud
There's a time to be complicit
And there's a time to say shit loud
(It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be)
To say shit loud
(It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be)
Yeah, you made me get loud
(It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be)
See, there you are
(It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be)
The real you at last
I hit a nerve, we're right back there
I'm letting you down at your birthday table
I know I should have stopped myself
But I felt for a while that this thing was over
A year from now we'll laugh about this
A year from now, just like old friends
You'll be a scar I've learned to live with
Once we see ourselves from the outside
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
(From the outside)
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
There's a version of our future
Where I said the right things to you consistently
There's a version of our future
In which I tried
Say hey to Adam for me
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant, it wasn't meant to be
