Dave Stewart è un musicista britannico nato a Canterbury. È noto per essere stato il tastierista del gruppo progressive rock Canterbury Scene, i Soft Machine, dal 1968 al 1972. È considerato uno dei pilastri della scena musicale di Canterbury, caratterizzata da un approccio sperimentale e jazzistico al rock progressivo. Dopo la sua esperienza con i Soft Machine, Stewart ha continuato a collaborare con diversi artisti del genere progressive, contribuendo a definire il sound unico della scena di Canterbury. Tra le sue opere più rappresentative si ricordano gli album "Soft Machine" (1968), "Volume Two" (1969) e "Third" (1970).
