Have I told you about octopuses skin?
They change their colour with chromatophores to fit the place they're in
They can look you right in the eye
Lose a leg and grow it back and play pretend
We have a lot to learn and
When I'm walking through the day
I've learnt the right thing to say
But at the supermarket today
I forgot the right things to say
Stand on my shoulders
I need a little help with things I didn't notice
And sometimes you might see some things I don't
Where are we going?
All waiting for directions wh?n our eyes are clos?d
And sometimes I might see some things you don't
Cheap candles on the walls and birthday cards
Should I buy her flowers?
Is that too much?
I don’t know about them, she likes them a lot
Is that what love is?
Two minds with different constellations
Fitting in to light up the sky
The supermarkets really really loud today
Headphones on I play that song as I walk away
Stand on my shoulders
I need a little help with things I didn’t notice
And sometimes you might see some things I don’t
Where are we going?
All waiting for directions when our eyes are closed
And sometimes I might see some things you don’t
When you pass an octopus a little shell
Across the line of life they take it from your hand
Put it in their home, and can you tell from how I speak?
It made me sad to think that at the supermarket
Someone might not cross the line to understand me
I think I'm like an octopus sometimes
Trying so hard to blend in
I forgot that I have something I could give
Stand on my shoulders
I need a little help with things I didn't notice
And sometimes you might know some things I don't
Where are we going?
All waiting for directions
When our eyes are closed
And sometimes I might know some things you don't
I can sing this song
Einstein saw that clock and he saw more
I can't do that but if you're sad you can sing along
Where are we going?
All waiting for direction when our eyes are closed
And we all have so much more that we could know
That we could know
We all have so much that we could know
