Boogiemonsters sono stati un gruppo rap americano composto dai rapper Vex (Sean Pollard) e Mondo McCann, entrambi originari del Bronx, New York, e dai fratelli giamaicani Myntric (Sean Myers) e Yodared (Ivor "Al" Myers). Vex, Myntric e Yodared si sono incontrati al liceo in Virginia, dove le loro famiglie si erano trasferite dalla città di New York. Hanno formato un gruppo e hanno iniziato a esibirsi insieme a spettacoli di talento. Dopo la laurea, Vex e Yodared hanno frequentato l'Università statale della Virginia mentre Myntric ha frequentato l'Università Union della Virginia. Lo studente dell'Università statale della Virginia McCann è stato reclutato nel gruppo. Il gruppo si è esibito in spettacoli sul campus e ha vinto il primo posto al Hip-Hop Convention dell'Università Howard. Hanno rapidamente ottenuto un contratto discografico con Pendulum/EMI e, nel 1994, hanno pubblicato Riders of the Storm: The Underwater Album.
