Primus è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi in San Francisco nel 1984. Noto per il suo sound sperimentale e difficile da classificare, spesso definito thrash funk, funk metal o persino psychedelic polka (termine coniato dal fondatore Les Claypool), Primus ha conquistato una solida base di fan grazie alla sua musica originale e al carisma del frontman. Il gruppo è composto da Les Claypool (basso, voce), Larry LaLonde (chitarra) e Tim Alexander (batteria). Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver", "My Name Is Mud" e "John the Fisherman".
