Noto per uno stile di rap provocatorio, combinato a testi socialisti e pan-africani, il gruppo si concentra su temi come la giustizia sociale, la pedagogia critica, il razzismo istituzionale, la polizia, il capitalismo, l'educazione, i sistemi carcerari, la religione, l'attivismo contro la repressione politica e il controllo corporativo sui media, in particolare sulle etichette discografiche hip hop. La loro posizione è chiara fin dal primo album, dove nel brano principale "I'm a African" dichiarano di essere «qualcosa tra N.W.A. e Public Enemy».
