I Groovie Ghoulies sono stati una band pop punk americana formatasi a Sacramento, in California. La loro musica ha attirato ispirazione da film horror. Hanno pubblicato numerosi album, EP e singoli, e hanno fatto tour internazionali. Il nome della band è stato preso dalla serie televisiva animata degli anni '70 Groovie Goolies, un spin-off di Sabrina, la strega adolescente (a sua volta un spin-off di The Archie Show). Il loro sound si caratterizza per l'energia punk rock e melodie orecchiabili, spesso accompagnate da testi che evocano atmosfere horror. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "I Wanna Be Your Ghoul", "Monster Mash" e "Grave Robber".

Il 28 aprile 1986 la cantante Graziella Franchini, in arte Lolita, veniva ritrovata esanime e sfigurata nella camera del residence di Lamezia Terme in cui viveva ormai da un pò di tempo. L'omicidio è rimasto privo di colpevoli.
