Esperanza Spalding è una musicista statunitense nata a Portland, Oregon, il 18 ottobre 1984. Considerata una delle più talentuose e innovative artiste jazz contemporanee, Spalding si distingue per la sua poliedricità musicale: oltre ad essere un'eccellente bassista, canta con voce potente e melodiosa, dimostrando grande versatilità nell'interpretazione di diverse sonorità.
