Samael è un gruppo musicale svizzero di genere black metal e industrial metal formatosi a Sion nel 1987. Considerati pionieri del movimento symphonic black metal, hanno influenzato profondamente la scena metal europea con sonorità dark ed evocativi testi. Il loro sound si evolve nel corso degli anni, incorporando elementi elettronici e sperimentali, culminando in un'estetica industriale-metal unica. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Blood Ritual", "After the Sepulture" e "Jupiter Rising". L'album "Ceremony of Opposites" (1997) è considerato un punto di svolta nella loro carriera, segnando l'ingresso in una fase più matura e sperimentale. Samael ha collaborato con artisti come Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy) e Amon Amarth.
